Organizations serving financially vulnerable older adults need support now more than ever. Even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a critical gap in funding for nonprofits providing important and necessary community-based services to seniors. Unfortunately, this funding crunch is occurring as the need for such services is increasing dramatically.

A report from the Minnesota Council on Foundations showed that only one percent of total grant dollars goes toward organizations serving aging adults. Sadly, the funding landscape has deteriorated even further as private philanthropy’s investment in aging is contracting and public funding has not kept pace with demand.

Stevens Square Foundation is committed to raising awareness and funding of these community-enhancing, largely volunteer-based and cost-effective efforts. We believe these innovative and on-the-ground approaches are critical to fostering dignity and hope as we all age.
