In 2006, Stevens Square Foundation became a private, grantmaking foundation and made its first series of grants to nonprofit agencies in support of older adults. Since grantmaking began (see Foundation History), the Foundation has awarded almost $7 million to nonprofits in the community.  SSF has maintained a commitment to excellent service to the community and strong community-based leadership.

Currently, Stevens Square Foundation is the only foundation in the Twin Cities area that exclusively funds programming for older adults. As 10,000 Americans turn 65 years of age every day, we are experiencing the largest cohort of older adults in our country’s history. This group is living and working longer, and enriching our communities and society in new and critical ways. The organizations that Stevens Square supports provide essential services that enable seniors to live well and independently in their homes and communities.
