GRANT GUIDELINES 2025-2029

Stevens Square Foundation will fund programs in the 7-county metro area — Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington. These services must target older adults who have the greatest social and economic needs. This includes persons who are socially isolated, e.g., dementia, living alone, loss of peers, mental illness, etc. and underserved groups, e.g., ethnically and/or racially diverse, LGBTQ+, and immigrant seniors. Grants range from $10,000 to $30,000.

We provide two types of grants that enable older adults to remain in their homes and communities:

  • Program Grants
  • General Operating Support Grants (only organizations whose sole focus is seniors are eligible for these grants)

Priority will be given to programs that address some or all of the following:

  • Provide community-based services:
    • Care Coordination/Service Navigation
    • Caregiver Support
    • Chore/Homemaker (including minor home repair and modification)
    • Food Security
    • Housing Stability
    • Legal Support
    • Social/Emotional Support
    • Transportation (when integrated with other services)
  • Advance promising new approaches to challenges and/or an innovation in aging services.
  • Provide evidence of client fees from those financially able to pay (e.g., fee-for-service models, sliding scale fees, cost-share, voluntary contributions, or other strategies).
  • Provide evidence of coordination and collaboration with other agencies in the community.

Not Eligible for Funding

  • The delivery of direct medical, psychological, and dental services to individuals.
  • The delivery of services whose costs are covered through individual payments by Medicare or Medicaid (Medical Assistance), including Minnesota Senior Health Options (MSHO), Alternative Care/Elderly Waiver (AC/EW) or a Disability Waiver.
  • Services provided to individuals living in licensed long-term care facilities, including assisted living.
  • Grants directly to individuals.
  • Capital projects or campaigns or major building construction.
  • Endowments.
